This is a fabulous antique hall chair from around the mid 1800's. It has intricate carvings on the back and curved legs. The wood appears to be stained mahogany and in very good condition. It is very sturdy & strong. I have 2 people told me this piece was probably made by John Jelliff of Newark New Jersey, and 1 person told me this is not. I am no expert here so I will leave the option up to you. This chair was originally purchased from a collector who lives in Newark area. It is still in very good original condition except the fabric. I was planning on getting it reupholstered but never get a chance. This chair would even be more exquisite and beautiful with the new fabric. It will be a great piece to dominate an entrance way, addition to an executive office, or provide a platform for story telling. The chair is approximately 44"" in overall height, 22"" wide, and 21 in depth. The top of the seat is about 15"" off the floor. Local pick up available. If not, please email for shipping quote. Because I am not sure if this item is a genuine John Jelliff piece or not, it will be sold as a ""John Jelliff Style"" chair....as is...no returns. Thanks!
